Trainer Expectations

As a trainer, you’ll help students master both technical and professional skills that employers value. Depending on your field and level, responsibilities may include:

  • Deliver Instruction: Lead engaging classroom and hands-on training sessions following established course outlines and materials.
  • Develop Materials: Assist in preparing lesson plans, demonstrations, and exercises aligned with current industry standards.
  • Assess Progress: Evaluate student learning through tests, projects, and practical demonstrations.
  • Support Students: Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes participation, growth, and confidence.
  • Quality: Maintain professional standards and integrate best practices into every training session.
  • Ensure Safety: Maintain compliance with all program-specific safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with Training Institute staff to continuously enhance course delivery, equipment needs, and participant outcomes.

What We Look For

Our trainers come from diverse industries but share a passion for teaching, communication, and lifelong learning. Qualifications vary by program, but we generally seek:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant degree, certification, or demonstrated expertise in your subject area
  • Two or more years of professional experience in the field
  • Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills
  • Ability to engage adult learners and adapt to diverse learning styles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six to ten or more years of experience, including leadership or training roles
  • Advanced credentials or professional certifications 
  • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience
  • Proficiency in classroom and industry-specific technologies

Trainer Levels & Growth

Each trainer is placed within a level (I–XII) based on documented education, experience, certifications, and teaching proficiency — not prior salary history (per California Labor Code 432.3).
