PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Our FLC Continuing Education (CE) program is a state-approved, 9-hour training for licensed Farm Labor Contractors (FLCs) and other key agricultural supervisory personnel. The program is authorized by the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) / Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) and meets the annual continuing education requirement under California law.
We offer the class both online (via Zoom) and in-person (Clovis, CA) so you can choose the format that best fits your schedule. The training covers important topics to ensure compliance with current laws and best practices — including a required 2-hour sexual harassment prevention module.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate that may be used either to meet the annual continuing education requirement for license renewal or as part of the documentation needed to sit for the California FLC licensing exam for first-time applicants. We also report your completion directly to the DLSE for seamless compliance.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the 9-hour course, participants will:
- Understand the latest state and federal laws and regulations applicable to farm labor contracting, including licensing, registration, and worker protections.
- Gain up-to-date knowledge of wage and hour, wage payment, and record-keeping obligations under California law.
- Learn legal and regulatory requirements related to worker safety, health, and transportation, including compliance with relevant Cal/OSHA standards, heat illness, and field sanitation.
- Understand best practices for contract management, worker recruitment, dispatching, supervisory responsibilities, and grower-contractor relations.
- Complete required training in sexual harassment prevention, including identification, prevention, reporting, and response procedures.
- Prepare for periodic state licensing/exam requirements and understand administrative obligations (e.g., registration in counties where you dispatch workers, maintenance of bond and insurance, etc.).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is designed for:
- Licensed Farm Labor Contractors seeking to fulfill their annual continuing education requirement under California law.
- Crew leaders, foremen, supervisors, or any staff responsible for recruiting, dispatching, supervising, or managing agricultural workers.
- Bookkeepers or administrative personnel who handle payroll, records, or regulatory compliance for labor operations.
- Agricultural employers or management teams who want to stay current on regulatory changes, reduce compliance risk, and improve labor management practices.
Whether you manage a small crew or a larger labor operation, this class ensures you remain compliant and informed.

ATTENDANCE FAQS:
Q: Who needs to submit proof of license or identification?
A: All participants must submit a copy of a valid FLC license (if applicable) and a government-issued photo ID before class, whether attending online or in-person.
Q: What are the technical requirements for online attendance?
A: You’ll need a laptop, tablet, or similar device with a front-facing camera, stable internet, Zoom application installed, and Adobe Acrobat Reader. The camera must remain on during the full class, displaying your face the whole time, to verify attendance.
Q: Can I work or drive while taking the online class and still receive credit?
A: No. You must be fully attentive and stationary throughout the online training. If you are working, driving, or otherwise distracted during the class, you will be removed from the session, and no credit will be issued.
Q: How long is the class?
A: The course is a full 9-hour session (usually 7:30 AM – 5:15 PM, depending on schedule), including a 2-hour sexual harassment prevention segment.
Q: Is preregistration required?
A: Yes. Space is limited, and registration is required ahead of time. Late or same-day registration is typically not available (or may incur a late fee).
Q: Do you issue a certificate?
A: Yes. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate, and we report attendance to DLSE for license compliance. Certificate processing is fast (often within 2 business days).
CERTIFICATES & STATE REPORTING:
- Upon completing this 9-hour FLC CE course, you will be emailed a certificate of completion that indicates fulfillment of the CE requirement within two business days of taking the class.
- Your attendance is also officially reported to DLSE/Labor Commissioner’s Office to confirm compliance with annual CE requirements under California Labor Code (specifically per license period).
- The 9-hour CE (including the required 2-hour sexual harassment prevention) is mandatory for all FLC license-holders each license period.
- The certificate of completion is valid for 1 year from the issuance date.
Completing this program helps you maintain your license in good standing and demonstrate compliance with state obligations.
